A year ago, the two of us wanted to use a quiet sunday afteroon for a lazy ipod, mocha and novel session. The plan took a standstill as we were interrupted by numerous impromptu phonecalls from fantastic beings bent on gatecrashing.
One year later, on a sunny saturday noon, we hit on the same idea. Where we failed a year ago, this time round, decked with Mitch Albom’s “For one more day” and some cheesy sexual Taiwan novel, me, moo and lan sat in conspiratorial silence and read. The silent breeze passing like a stranger, the roaring of engines across the far end, the mocha on ice, the quiet broken only by the click of the lighter.
We succeed our first ever reading session. With promises of more to come.
And the new 2007 will see our retro sunday night dinners @ siglap with friends lost briefly for new chums, but never forgotten, to which the familiar comfortability will arise once again.
Sometimes, as time passes, what was once familiar seems to disappeare into thin air.
